β’ Long runs have become one of my favorite training days. As I’ve been training for my half marathon coming up, I’ve been doing my long runs on Fridays bc it works best with my schedule right now. I had 10 miles today & felt good overall, but a little fatigued/tired from training this week & college work. I’d like to share a few things that long runs can teach us… πββοΈ
1) Perseverance: If you put my mind to it, you can do it! This can be in running/training, school/work, or any goals you set for yourself. This should ALWAYS be gradual & if something physically hurts, that’s a sign to take a step back.π£
2) Alone time: I love long runs when I have my ear buds in, listening to a podcast or audiobook. My mind feels really clear after too. (Long runs with buddies are fun too). πΆ
3) Listening to your body: 7+ miles is long time to be using your body, & it can tell you if the training your doing is sustainable. Long training runs aren’t always easy, but you shouldn’t feel depleted to nothing at the end. (A lot goes into this like training plan, sleep, nutrition, stretching/yoga, stress levels, etc.) π§ββοΈ
β’ Also a reminder to anyone reading. Whether your mile is 5 minutes or 20 minutes, it’s still a mile! If the movement you’re doing makes you feel better mentally & physically, that’s what matters. Don’t compare your progress to anyone elses & give yourself a hug. π€π€
