• I am not a dietician, but I took Exercise Science classes in college, earned my personal training license through NASM, and am currently working on my nutrition license (and took a nutrition course in college). Running & working out is a BIG part of my life. With that comes learning to balance nutrition & wellness. I used to struggle with restriction, so studying nutrition has become beneficial and I hope to provide simple & general guidance to others.
• Proper nutrition takes a huge role in fitness, mental & physical clarity, and overall quality of life. Trying to lean into the idea of “closer to nature” when it comes to buying ingredients has been so helpful. For example, fresh fruits and vegetables, organic lean meats, spices and seasonings for flavor, making your own dressings and granolas. And avoiding harmful additives and processed foods.
• What does this mean? The “closer to nature” approach doesn’t cut out of food groups or have diet rules, it leans into this idea of farm fresh and REAL ingredients. By purchasing & consuming fresh produce & avoiding the processed and unnatural additives you will notice a difference in overall health. A lot of times people think eating a healthy diet will be costly, when in reality if your focus is on wholesome & natural goods, there shouldn’t be a big price difference. If anything, it’ll be better.
• When you consume the right things, you will feel it. For example, I noticed a positive shift in my energy levels, I feel better during runs & workouts, I have fun meal prepping, my mental fatigue has decreased, better quality sleep, and a MUCH better attitude. If you try it, let me know. I hope this little tip provides some guidance. 🌱🤍
