~reading~

• “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” – Joseph Addison 📚

• Our mind and body are connected. There are ways to care for and exercise both. Physically we go on a run/hike, workout, etc. But mentally we can learn, read, and write. It’s important to be in tune with both our mind and body, training them both.

• When we read it allows us to escape to another world, feel closer to someone, grow our faith in God, learn about a subject, expand our knowledge, etc. The genre is your choice depending on what you like to read. But the moral of the story (no pun intended) is that reading can be a form of self-care and knowledge building.

• Next time you want to reach for your phone, try picking up a book instead. I guarantee within a couple of days you’ll realize how much happier and less stressed connecting with a book makes you feel. You’ll go on an adventure instead of comparing yourself to someone online. You’ll connect with characters instead of disconnecting from your mind.

• t’s okay to go on your phone in moderation, I don’t mean this as a lecture. But reading might be a way to lessen the screen time, decrease stress, and be a mood booster. Writing and journaling are also great options. I’ve learned that being outside when I read and connecting with nature enhances the benefits of reading. Same with reaching for a book instead of my phone before bed.

• Let me know what book you’re reading or want to read down below! P.S. this Taylor Swift song PERFECTLY describes us book girlies!!! 🤍
