~spring & growth~

β€’ I chose to focus on growth & being present this Spring. 🌱🫢🏼 I did something I never thought I could do, I took 2 weeks off – meaning no running & no working out. Only calm walks & yoga. My body & mind were feeling tired & stressed with training, work, & yoga teacher training. I decided to give my body the reset it needed. Our bodies are meant to be treated with kindness and love.

β€’ I finished my two weeks off in early May, & I’m on week 2 of my new training plan! Guess what? I FEEL BETTER – I feel strong when I’m running & working out, I experience a normal amount of tiredness/fatigue when I finish training, & I’m enjoying it more. Not just in training, but I’ve been much less stressed in my daily life and at work. πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

β€’The hardest part of training is oftentimes taking time off, especially if you love it as I do. Here are things that helped me during my rest period: Nature leisure walks, reading & spending more time outside, getting things done (cleaning my car/spring cleaning), exploring other hobbies/stress relievers, etc. Time off doesn’t mean you have to be a couch potato, it just means to take a step back, partake in light/mindful movement, and relax.🩷

β€’ Check in with yourself, ask when was the last time you had a rest day/period.And know that 1-2 weeks won’t delete your progress, if anything it’ll enhance it. Our bodies are like flowers, you can put them in the sun but if you never give them water they won’t be able to flourish. Happy Spring friends, here’s to growth. 🌷
